Greenway and Woodburn will both be open from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM for visiting. Allow 45 minutes to tour the house and grounds at each property.

About Woodburn

Future president John Tyler purchased the tract on which Woodburn was erected in 1813, and the house, which he described as a "decent and comfortable dwelling," was built shortly afterwards. In 1831 he sold Woodburn to his brother Wat H. Tyler. Woodburn is a provincial version of the tripartite Palladian house, exhibiting the bold outline popular in the South during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. A two-story, gable-fronted center section is flanked by one-story wings. Within is found much of the original, austerely handsome woodwork. Grounds feature early outbuildings.
